Introduction

The Overtur add-in for Revit assists users by providing an easy means to transfer door schedule data, supporting drawings and documents to a project within the Overtur collaboration web-based environment.

Once installed, the add-in will provide an Overtur contextual tab menu to the Revit interface. The add-in allows a user to send and/or retrieve door schedule data to Overtur. Upon completion the Revit user is able to retrieve a hardware set value in order to populate a users-selected or pre-defined hardware set parameter within the active model. This plugin is compatible with any Revit

Also includes support for collaboration workflows, up to and including BIM360.

Prerequisites

The Overtur Add-in for Revit is compatible with the latest versions of Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, running Revit Versions 2019-2021. (Note, no longer compatible with Revit 2017).

Latest Features & Enhancements

The latest version of Overtur 4 Revit includes the listed items below. We appreciate feedback, as we are always making improvements based on user input.

Features

1. Re-Imagined the overall workflow of the ‘SEND’ process, using native Revit printing functionality.
2. Highlighting selected parameter within schedule during Retrieve.
3. Settings Manager to turn off the ‘Sync to Central’ reminders, and other options.
4. Settings Manager allows the user to clear any Overtur specific application data content.
5. Minor interface improvements.
6. Performance enhancements.
7. Minor bug fixes

Enhancements

1. Improved print processing (no PDF driver support needed, using native Revit functionality).
2. Retrieve, highlighting of selected parameter when a schedule is the active view during the Retrieve process.

Resolved Bugs

1. Revit not opening at all when Overtur is installed.
2. Revit closes unexpectantly, upon initial opening of model, or after a few minutes of being opened. An unexpected error log is generated and submitted to Overtur, user assumes Overtur causes Revit to close un-expectantly, when another process or installed app would cause the resulting error.
3. SEND - resolved processing when larger images are encountered.
4. SEND - resolved Print failure, causing drawings to not be submitted to Overtur.
5. SEND - Resolved PDF files generation but not being submitted to Overtur. Required longer transfer time window.
6. SEND - PDF files are automatically divided into multiple files no larger than 250mb each , before being sent to Overtur.
7. User Closes Overtur, after initiating submitting data to Overtur, resulting in Revit hanging, and would become unresponsive.
8. User not able to log in when running through a VPN.

Known Issue

When using a VPN or Remote Desktop. The user is not able to log into the Overtur for Revit plugin.

Cause

The user has not attempted to use the Overtur for Revit plugin previously. Therefore, the Overtur token has not yet been generated, in order to validate the user has access to an Overtur project.

Answer

A VPN or Remote Desktop connection can be preventing Overtur from validating the user. This only occurs if the user has not be validated within Revit prior to using the plugin.

Resolution when using a Virtual Private Network Connection (VPN)

• The user can simply, temporarily disconnnect from the VPN session in order to log into the Overtur for Revit plugin. This will generate the required Overtur login token. Once the user has been able to log into the Overtur plugin. This process will not be necessary again, and the user can then use the VPN as needed. No further steps will be necesssary.

Resolution when using a Remote Desktop Connection (RDC)

• This will require the user to connect to Overtur using the Overtur for Revit plugin, from within the users office environment. This will then generate the needed Overtur login token.
• Or someone else within the office environment could actively log into the Overtur for Revit plugin, in order to complete the task required. (Assuming this user has access to the same Overtur project).
• Once the user has been able to log into Overtur from Revit, from within the local office environment, the process will not be required again, as Overtur will generate the required login token.
• Once the token is created, the user can then use the same local machine when connecting to the office via a Remote Desktop Connection without any connection limitations.

Hardware Set Parameter requirements

Compatibility Footnotes

Other installed Revit add-ins may need to be updated as Overtur4Revit is designed to be compatible with the latest updates as provided by Autodesk API Libraries.
Overtur4Revit will always be compatible with the latest version of Revit available, including hotfixes, which could require a Revit update to be installed.

Virus Protection applications

An executable is installed as part of this installation which attempts to authenticate the user desiring access to Overtur. To ensure a user has access to Overtur, it is requested that you allow the following folder within your preferred virus protection application:

Allow this folder: %programdata%/OvtPlugin4Rvt

The OvtPlugin4Rvt.Auth.exe within the AUTH subfolder is required to authenticate the user within Overtur. If this file is missing from the folder location noted above, it will be necessary to re-install the Overtur add-in.

The provided Overtur add-in for REVIT is free to users for collaboration purposes while using the Allegion Overtur collaboration environment(s) for the purpose of the coordination of door hardware design and specifications. As a courtesy, other tools maybe provided as part of the Overtur add-in which can be used various project coordination needs.
